Worship is the heart of the church’s life. Since 1735 followers and seekers worship on this hill. The walls of the sanctuary have heard tens of thousands of prayers. As the first settlers discovered long ago this place offers worshipers peace and tranquility. Our Sanctuary is a holy shelter, a sacred space that refreshes and nourishes all who experience the trials and tribulations of life. Worship begins with reverence for the Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer of the Universe. It follows forms and expressions, both ancient and contemporary that touch needs, grant reassurance, and feeds the hunger for hope. On the fifth Sunday of the month, we have a healing service.
Families are encouraged to worship together. Portions of the service are selected to encourage children’s participation. Children and youth are invited to participate in the service in meaningful and significant ways. A nursery is provided for young children who need more freedom than a worship service provides.
Music is a very important element of our worship. Our Director of Music works with the pastor to include music that enhances the worship service and inspires the worshippers. There are many special and unique worship services on the calendar, but the candlelight service of Christmas Eve and the liturgies of Holy Week are highlights of the year.
If it’s been a while since you’ve shared in worship, do come to visit St. John’s (Hain’s). It provides a setting where body and soul can be refreshed; friends to walk with you on the journey, the presence of an awesome God who loves you. Come and join in our celebration of God’s love. You’ll be glad that you did!
