Since the founding of St. John’s (Hain’s) Church, its cemetery has been the final resting place for members and residents of the surrounding community. Its long history has made the burial grounds and its records a valuable resource for those looking to discover family histories. Some of the very first European men and women who settled this region rest here. Fifty-eight veterans of the Revolutionary War rest in peace near the Church’s western wall.
St. John’s (Hain’s) Church claims its burial grounds as a ministry. The congregation has accepted the responsibility for its wellbeing. Each year it elects representatives to a Cemetery Board that oversee the day-to-day operations. The Church employs part time employees to maintain its grounds and records.
